Fort Pickens

We left our anchorage at Ft McRee, and went across the entrance to P-Cola Bay. There we went ashore to Ft. Pickens. This fort was occupied by Union soldiers while Ft. McRee was occupied by Confederates. (This was during the war of Northern aggression.)

They each fired cannons across the pass at one another.

I don't know if Ft Pickens was open to the public today or not. We took it by sea. The place was deserted.

They used over 21 million bricks to build the fort.

This is where Geronimo was kept a prisoner after his capture in 1887.
