Mississippi River

After reading an outdated crusing guide about the river, I decided a trip on the Mississippi might be fun. The book, "Life on the Mississippi" was published in 1883 by some guy using a fake name--Mark Twain. I imagine a few things have changed since he wrote the book, so I'll make some notes in the margins for the next reader.
I was sure if we drove west, we'd find the river, and we did. Clinton, Iowa. Nice new marina, good launching ramp, and a helpful staff. If our truck and trailer are still here when we return, I'd say it's perfect. Luv one of the boat names here......."Eat, Drink and Remarry."
Ate dinner at the Candlelight Inn overlooking the marina and river. If you're ever in Clinton, I highly recommend the "Chicken George."
The people at the marina said the water is up about 4 feet above normal. Not as high as it was in '65.
Daytime temps in the low 80's, nights in the 50's. Very low humidity.
