Ferry Point Marina

9-19-09  Saturday

Left home about 9 am Friday.  Drove to Mount Airy, MD, and spent the night in a WalMart parking lot.  I didn't realize how many hills Maryland has.  We're accustomed to Mount Eagle in Tennessee on the way to Florida--up one side, down the other.  Maryland has one Mount Eagle after another for a hundert miles.

We got to the Ferry Point Marina (no, Jeff Gordon does not keep his boat here) early this morning.  The person I spoke with said she would be on vacation this week, but Carol would be here and know all about our slip and trailer storage.  As you might guess, Carol wasn't here because the guy who was here has tickets to the Redskins game tomorrow, and traded days with Carol.  However, he was very friendly and most helpful.  He wasn't familiar with any of the details, but I showed some him emails outlining our plans, and he accommodated us.  He couldn't run credit cards, fill out a contract, and he wanted us to stop in the office tomorrow, and go over it all with Carol. No problem.  (He owns the place.)

We inflated the dinghy, and after some minor inconvenience with the new motor, we went for a 3 hour tour of the upper part of the Magothy River.  Three houses down from the marina, we saw another Rosborough.  Sandpiper.  Sitting on a lift.  Looked like a 246 Wheelhouse.

From the head of the river, we could see approximately 75 sailboats sailing in the river.

Here's a couple of photos of the Ferry Point Marina

Many more sailboats than power dogs here.

Plan to go to the Rhode River tomorrow.
