On to Onancock

Last night, we were all sitting in the cockpit of Grey Goose when a man walked out the dock, and said "I read your blog, and I knew you'd be here."  I had made a rather politically incorrect posting yesterday, and thought perhaps he was with the blog police.  However, he was another Rosborough owner who lives in Norfolk.  Tom Harris, LOW PRESSURE hull #412.  He was a wealth of information about this area.  We had a nice chat, and invited him to join in our parade up to Onancock.  Unfortunately he was unable to come along.

Leaving Norfolk Harbor was an adventure.  Lots of large ships coming and going.  We heard the Coast Guard on the VHF radio warning us to keep clear of this incoming ship.
They were escorting it with eight armed RIBs, and a CG Cutter.

They warned us that they were authorized to use deadly force to keep us away from the ship. We sent Frank over to see how close he could get before they opened fire.

No idea what the ship was carrying.
We passed a pen with a couple of submarines in it.

And more top secret Navy ships under construction.

We had to dodge lots of traffic on the way out.

While driving here, we towed our boat under this stretch of water.  Now, we're crossing over the tunnel.  I think that's the first over and under for our boat.  (You can see where the highway enters the tunnel on the right.  It goes about 60' down.)

We couldn't have picked a better day to cross the bay.  Quite calm. I think it was about 65 miles to Onancock.
